During these beach cleanups, thousands of volunteers come together to clean up plastic and other waste. What is the beach cleanup?

Every year beach clean-ups take place on the beach of Kijkduin, near Scheveningen. During this special event, volunteers are called upon to clean up the beach and collect rubbish left on the beach or washed up. The initiative is an important part of preserving the beach, marine life and natural beauty of the area.

The beach clean ups are organized by various organizations, including local environmental organizations, companies and government agencies. Volunteers can register for these events and receive instructions on how to collect and sort the waste. Usually the necessary materials, such as gloves and garbage bags, are provided by the organizers.

During the beach cleanups, volunteers are encouraged not only to collect waste, but also to carry out educational activities. In addition, participants can increase their own knowledge about sustainability and environmental protection by participating in workshops and lectures.
